Finally Sumila Ritchil gets her new house

Sumila Ritchil(70), a helpless Garo woman of Telikhali, Haluaghat, got a new house yesterday. Bangladesh Garo Organization (BGO), a group of Garo youth, stood beside her and helped her with a newly built house, a sanitary and a solar panel.

BGO family, led by Asim Ritchil, Albin Dio, Somor Simon Mree, Samrat D. Sangma, Badal Simsang and ex-Nokma Paul Mree along with 29 others, started from Dhaka to Haluaghat previous night to attend the handover program.

Sumila was excited to have such a wonderful gift from BGO. She was calm and expressed her ecstasy with glaring joyful tears. She expressed her deep gratitude towards Donald Hawee, BGO family and She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the youth from Sangra and Palashtala who extended their great labour in building house.

Donald Hawee, a music composer and singer, discovered 2 Garo women while they were begging at a market place and posted their photos with short article in the social media and it went viral.

Some journalists from extended their helping hands instantly just after reading the post in the social media.

Later, Donald took an interview of the women and uploaded it in the social media and youtube.

BGO and neighbours building a new house for Sumila

Watching the video interview the BGO family decided to extend cooperation to Sumila. BGO raised a small fund and decided to build house for Sumila. The BGO family with the help of Sangra and Palashtola youths built house under the direct supervision of Donald Sangma.

11 youths from Sangra and Palashtala village worked day and night selflessly. They are Lemon Rokho, Purno Ghagra, Nikseng Nawa, Prince Hawee and Donald Hawee from Sangra and Lipson Kubi, Jess Thakni Babu, Johushoy Ritchil, Lion Bela, Binus Thakni and Linton Thakni from Palashtala village.

The newly built house handed over to Sumila yesterday.

Sumila had a small hut that had been destroyed by heavy rain and wind. Since then, she was living under the open sky!

Prominent Poet and lyricist James Jornesh Chiran, Music Composer and Singer Donald Hawee, BGO family members, and hundreds of youth from Palashtala, Sangra and Telikhali village, among others, were present in the hand over program.
